Story

The auto-rickshaw pulled up in front of the mall where her meeting had been scheduled. It was a Saturday. The city was decidedly relaxed. As she made her way to the restaurant, her eyes fell on the families who had come out to spend time with their loved ones. She resisted the urge to rush back to visit her parents. It had been many months since she had last been home. While she enjoyed her work and the life she had built for herself, she was lonely.

Her reverie was interrupted by a text message from the client stating they’d been held up by an unfortunate emergency. The meeting had been called off. She knew she should have been disappointed, but she was relieved. On her way out, she stopped in front of a home decor shop. The wall hanging in the window display had caught her eye. ‘Home sweet home’, it said. As they say, what you seek is seeking you. Walking inside the store, she knew she would carry back with her something that reminded her of home.
